Social Security Disability

If you are unable to work due to a mental or physical condition, you may quality for Social Security Disability (SSD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you have already applied but have been denied, you have the legal right to appeal. Contact Michael B. Walling, PLC for a free consultation regarding your Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income, and/or your appeal hearing, in Michigan. Social Security Disability is paid to qualified disabled persons, and Supplemental Security Income payments are made to qualified disabled individuals who are at lower income levels. In order to be qualified, the Social Security Administration bases its decision to award benefits on the following factors:

  • Are you currently working?
  • Do you have a severe medical impairment?
  • Does your medical impairment meet or equal an impairment on the state agency listing of impairments?
  • Can you return to your previous work?
  • Can you perform some other type of work?

Approximately 70% of original applications for disability are denied. You have 60 days to file a "Request for Hearing" if you are denied benefits in Michigan. At this point, if you do not yet have an attorney to represent you, it would be very beneficial to hire one. An attorney can help determine why you were denied and what it will take to win your disability claim. An attorney will also help you gather medical records and opinions, research applicable law, properly prepare your case, and represent you at your appeal hearing.

You only pay our fee if you win your disability claim. Our fee is only a small percentage of past due benefits sent directly to us from the Social Security Administration. If you do not win, then no fee is charged.

Contact Michael B. Walling, PLC to speak with an understanding and qualified attorney for a free consultation.
